Moved to Amsterdam

After visiting Amsterdam in November, we fell in love with the city and decided to move here temporarily. We love the beautiful architecture, the canals, the museums, the transport system and just the general vibe of the city. It’s thriving with life and very multicultural. Well, it normally thriving with life anyway. We moved here just before COVID 19 took place. So you could call it bad timing lol. We had jobs but lost them due to hotels not needing any extra staff until tourists were back. We struggled to find work throughout this period because nearly everything was shut. We even considered leaving and going back to our home countries as everything was so uncertain. But a stroke of luck came our way and we found temporary work to do in the end. We have now been here for a couple of months and things are starting to open again. The shops, restaurants and bars are open with restrictions. We are now just waiting for nightclubs, dance studios and gyms to open again.  Being in lockdown in a new city was hard. Not being able to explore our new home, go on fun adventures, make friends, enjoy outdoor activities. Not to mention the unexpected financial stress of it all.

Now that quarantine has come to an end we have started to explore. So far we have been to Amstelveen, Hoofddorp, Belmere and Zaandam. Out of those I’d say my favourite is Zaandam. Zaandam has some of the quirkiest and coolest buildings I’ve ever seen (as you’ll see in one of the pictures below). We have been told that their are some beautiful villages and beaches on the outskirts so we want to travel to check them out one day. Also, we hope to travel around Europe next year as we are in a good position to do so. Italy, Portugal, Belguim and France are some of the things on our list. New adventures pending.
